HI Having had psoriasis for many years I thought it had all gone away but now I realise that it never really went away and I have a massive flare up on my scalp, in my ear and on my toe nails. Last November my knee joint became very painful and the movement in it was very restricted. The joint was hot and swollen. It took maybe three months for the swelling to go but the movement still is very restricted but it hurts only occasionally. I had blood tests for arthritis which came back as negative but I am now wondering if this was psoriatic arthritis. Can anyone tell me that has PsA, would this be a possibility or just some weird joint problem that's nothing to do with the psoriasis? Do you get a flare up and then the swelling goes but leaves stiffness is what I'm asking or is it usually permanent pain and swelling (if that's the case that's not what I've got!)
Thanks Cath

Hi there Caffie.
I tend to think all types of P swell and wane as do other types of infliction, but there IS hope.
I had painful hand joints as well as other joint problems in other places and also tendonitis. Since being prescribed Otezla I have noticed improvements all round and now for the first time in years I can use a keyboard and twang on my Fender again. I still get some pain but nowhere near as bad as I used to.

Thanks for your reply. My knee just has restricted movement now. Just wondering if this wasn't Ps at all. Difficult to say I suppose.

Go and see your GP about your problem and then you should get some good advice/treatment.

GP is rather inaccessible these days. You have to be rung back by the doc and have a "conversation". I'm biding my time.

in my case the arthritis and the psoriasis raised their heads all at once and suddenly , and yes it does sound like the joint pain I have; but it could also be just a joint problem, that has nothing to do with the Ps; I would first go to an orthopoedist and have x-rays done. then consult a rheumatologist; good luck !

I had a psoriasis flare up as well as Psoriatic Arthiritis in my fingers. I used PSORfix ointment for my Plaque Psoriasis, cracked Heels bought from India, wonderful results within two weeks.
I used an 32 Herbs mixed oil for my Arthiritis. Again wonderful relief within few applications.
The oil is called MAHANARAYAN TEL (OIL) for topical applications only, which is freely available on UK/Europe/USA websites for as little as £4.50. All herbs no side effects.
