Hi all, new to this site. Just wanted to tell anyone who is on Dovobet ointment (which my pharmacist is not stocking anymore) and has heard about Dovobet gel, to get some immediately. It is far better as it soaks in better and, like most gel's is not as sticky, especially if you are using it all over John

Hi John, since I came to live in England my GP gave me Dovobet ointment, which does me a lot of good! I never heard of a gel variety,and I'm a bit panicking now you said that your pharmacist isn't stocking it any more. I don't hope this means it has gone of the market all together. I have to ask my GP about this gel, it might do a better job on some spots I seemingly can't get control of with the ointment. Thank you for pointing out the existence of the gel! Now I can only hope they have it here in the North West too! Erwin

I have had psorisis for 28 years and tried all treatments possible it affected my self esteem for years now i dont care what people think

I have been told by my pharmacist that its no longer available so i have gone onto the gel but it doesnt seem to be as effective as the ointment

Hi, New to site. Dovobet make two products ( LEO pharmaceuticals ) , which are available by prescription only (POM) 1. Dovobet Ointment ( Thick & for the body ) 2. Dovobet Gel ( Thinner and for the scalp ) .....was previously called Xamiol. These product are available now, as I picked up my last supply in Nov 2013. Would welcome any other tips that would help treat the dreaded P . Thanks

Plaque Psoriasis since childhood, now nail psoriasis, psoriatic arthritis, eye problems, the full monty really!

My pharmacist cannot get the larger tubes of Dovobet ointment anymore, so I end up with 8 of the 30g tubes each time, and I use about half a tube each application. Also I notice it is the spanish import version (still made by Leo), so they are either phasing it out here or there is an supply problem (which given that Leo are based here seems daft). My pharmacist substitutes the Gel which frankly is a lot easier to apply as my psoriatic arthritis makes it hard for me to use the tubes (they are hard to squeeze!), plus it soaks in a lot quicker. I would hope the Psoriasis Association could get some information on the reason for the supply problems as thousands of sufferers must be affected.

I too have had supply problems. My GP prescribed Dovobet Gel, which is lot easier to apply, but it is not as effective. I first used the gel over a year ago but when I saw a dermatologist she laughed and said the gel is meant for the scalp. I informed my doctor of this but he continues to prescribe the gel, saying that it can be used elsewhere. The 30g tubes of Dovobet makes me think that the manufacturers don't' really understand the problem.

To be honest Fogo, the fact that the tubes are so hard to squeeze the ointment out of, means they almost certainly don't understand the problem! I just came from the Dermatologist a week ago and she said the gel can be used on scalp or body. I agree it doesn't seem so strong, but because its easier to dispense you can use more of it.

Hi Amandine The ointment is easier to use if you heat it up a bit. I put hot water into the washbasin and pop in a tube of the ointment while I am having a shower/bath. By the time I am ready to apply the ointment it flows out of the tube a lot easier. Regards Fogo

In ears and scalp

I use NeriumAd for my ears and scalp. My grandpa uses it for his which is all over his body. The stuff is amazing and natural. I have tried all the chemicals from the doctors and they dont cut it. NeriumAd helps not only with the itching but also makes the flakiness go away. While there are numerous other benefits this is the one I am most concerned with. You must try it there are many before and after photos on the net. The stuff is wondeful for psoriasis

There seems to be a bit of confusion. Remember that 1) this site can be accessed from all over the world 2) not all countries provide the same products and at the same time. 3) either one is greasy for the scalp. I was given Salicilic Acid/Betamethasone in liquid form. It does not mess up my pillow. From BC CANADA

I'm in a bit of shock! I was prescribed dovobet gel for my scalp and ears a couple of moths back and have found it to be really affective on these areas. I have requested this be added to my repeat prescription along with dovobet ointment which I prefer to use on my body. Just had a phone call from Dr's, they have refused to dispense this as a repeat due to the sheer cost of it!! I'm so shocked! Haqs anyone else had this problem?

New to the forum but started Dovobet Gel for nail Psoriasis as a test on a thumb nail. I have seen miraculois results with the product by applying it at the thumb knuckle joint up to the base of the nail and what's left of the cuticle. Apparently the cause is athrytic psoriasis which stems from the nail bed at the first joint. I've been applying a finger plaster to keep the product active at the site. It takes a good few weeks, but new healthier nail is growing again. Went to see a specialist rheumatoid consultant who was an expert in psoriasis. 'Keep doing what your doing' and he wants to see the results in 3 months. Just started to try it on all toenails now, but that's going to be a long haul I guess. Hopeful of a positive result.

I was using dovabet a lot before and now my dermatologist has said my skin is very thin and i am only to use it once or twice a week, she has given me enstillar and this is a spray on and it does not feel oily or cause any problems. now going onto tablet therapy

Hi folks, new to this website. I don’t know if people are still around in the conversation about Dovobet Gel. I have a question for anybody who uses it on their scalp. My doctor prescribed it for me and I have read the instructions thoroughly. It doesn’t say anywhere in the instructions how long I should keep it in my hair after applying it, before washing it out. I’ve searched the Internet and can’t find this information. Does anybody have any insight? Thank you so much.

Hi Ed, I tend to only use dovobet around my hairline and behind my ears, as don't have it as bad in my scalp anymore. However, if it helps, I put it on at night, sleep with it on and then wash off in the morning. It clears up after 2 uses and a couple of days, and tends to stave off flare ups for roughly 2 weeks. Then I repeat the process once it starts coming back.

Hi, I am new to this forum. I have been using dovebet gel for years now but have also recently been prescribed enstilar which has the same active ingredients as dovebet but is a foam. I have found it easier to use as it is absorbed more quickly so doesn't stain clothing. I have also recently been told to completely cease using dovebet on a stubborn plaque on my hip, I had a punch biopsy to rule out any cancer but having ruled that out the doctor decided it was just skin thinning due to long term use of steroids. I have been advised to only use immoliants on that plaque.

Hi Mervyn, A few months ago, I discovered that psoriasis had been sitting dormant in my system for 51 years! Then I got Covid and it exploded everywhere. My dermatologist prescribed Enstilar foam for my body because it is easy to apply to large areas, and Dovobet Gel for my scalp. The combo has proven very successful. I have also been cautioned about over-use of both, especially because I apply the Enstilar to my arms, legs, stomach, chest and back. I agree… it is a great product. Best of luck, Elana.

Hi Mervyn I’m struggling with my first ever flare up in 65 years! I’ve now been on Enstilar and Exorex daily for a month but now have to slowly wean off the steroid! Urgh! Using Exorex twice daily now - I am in the sun every minute I get and I think that’s really helping me. Nothing is helping my scalp though 😢 Good Luck Sandie
