Hi Everyone!
I've had psoriasis for 10 years now (since I was 11) and now I'm 21. I've had UV treatment before at least 4x but realise that there's no use because it comes back after 3 months.
I've been getting inspiration from people with psoriasis who are going on a strict diet as well as taking a lot of vitamins i.e. omega 3, no red meat, loads of veggies, fruit, no fried or oily food, no wheat. I go gym regularly in general however I've been doing this diet now for a month and I've only seen a slight change. I live in the UK so I'm not sure if the weather is affecting the process plus I am a university student so I've often been experiencing stress. Any suggestion or advice to people who are or have experienced this diet?

Hi, I'm just giving a bit of advice someone told me.Ive had Psoriasis for 4 years after having a throat infection.Up till then I've never had it before.I was told by a fellow sufferer to keep spicey foods to minimum ,also anything citrus in fruits, and I love Satsumas but I've cut down and also tomatoes such be limited.Im Vegetarian so I love my fruit and veg.But I have cut down on these items and I must admit I'm not suffering as much as usual. Sometimes little bits of information can be helpful and worth a try.Bye for now.
Hi, I have had psoriasis for 14 years after the birth of my daughter I noticed dry patches on both knees, it then spread to elbows and hands, was distraught after going to doctors and him telling me it was not curable! I now have it on my scalp, ears, and last year I got it in my groin and under my breasts as well as my belly button, it's only in small patches and I know there's a lot of people worse off than me with it covering large areas but it does get me down, especially with it being on my hands as people always pass comment. Anyhow on 1st Jan I decided to cut out the nightshade vegetables after doing some research and I have to say after the month was up my ps was noticeably better, I say better as it was improved in appearance ie a lot less angry, itchy and scaley. However the patches are still the same size and have not reduced any.. I have carried on with the diet, it's not easy missing out on tomatoes and potatoes as I love them but it's worth it for the small improvement in my skin I have achieved. I also quit smoking last November and thought that might help but I don't think it has really.
I am away to the doctor today as I'm fed up with the ps in my groin area, it's the only part of my body that still gets irritated, after reading on here about the cream called sorion I have ordered that as well and am forever hopeful it will work for me with summer round the corner!
1Posted Thu 22 Mar 2018 23.08 by Eliza I have had psoriasis for as long as I can remember (I am 19) and have had a variety of treatments with varying success.
I’ve had psoriasis for as long as I can remember (I’m now 19) and have tried a huge list of topical treatments and phototherapy. However for me, the thing that worked the best was cutting out dairy, potatoes, peppers and tomatoes. It might just be coincidence but I have been eating like this for 2 years now and it has made a difference. My psoriasis is still very much there but there it is less red than before and it has minimised itch symptoms, making it easier to live normally. I am still on a never ending series of topical treatments too, it takes up so much time everyday, but at least with this new diet if I have to miss one round of moisturiser for whatever reason, the itch symptoms are nowhere near as prevalent as they were before.

Hello Tavl
Yes stress is a big part of psoriasis flares. So your first course of action is to manage your stress levels.
I found the following four practices totally eradicated my past stress:
Emotional Freedom Technique (tapping), Buteyko breathing technique, yoga and guided meditations.
I am now in my 50's and have had psoriasis my whole life. Nothing worked until I hit 40, and I cleared myself with dietary changes.
Doctor told me not to bother, as said diet didn't work. He was (like 99% of doctors out there) wrong on the subject. Glad I didn't listen to him :)
For the past ten years I have been maintaining clear plaque-free skin by continuing with that diet.
Not a cure obviously. But I don't care. As lovely to wander around in short sleeves and shorts without people pointing or commenting.
Difficult to say what your personal food issues will be. If any. Best to keep a food diary and try to identify.
For me, things like smoking, alcohol, nightshades (tomatoes, peppers, potatoes), sugar, red meat, fried foods, wheat, peanuts, and the biggest trigger of all is dairy.
I follow a very healthy wholefood diet, and eat 80% vegan foods. And do vegetable juicing daily.
Jason Vale - famous British health guru - manages his own psoriasis with juicing. It works brilliantly for me too.
Perhaps see a naturopath for dietary help, as you don't want to give up food groups without replacing them first.
Cold pressed coconut oil tends to help a lot of people as a moisturizer too.
Are you deficient in zinc and Vitamin D? Most British people are. Maybe get some blood tests and check. Then supplement. As these deficiencies are both connected to skin.
Dandelion root tea helps the liver and liver is connected too
It took me at least six months to clear completely. With diet, you need to sensibly give it at least six to twelve months. Nothing much will happen after one month. And you may need to fine tune as you go along.
Have a look at the Jason Vale Skin Deep / Clear Skin Program. Free to download on the internet. Juicing vegetables fast tracked me to clearance and I drank two juices daily whilst I cleared, and obviously ate a healthy diet at the same time.
It was also winter here when I cleared, although obviously a lot colder in the UK.
Just look at all your options - especially ones outside the box!
I have had Psoriasis since I was 17, I'm now 52 and it has gone from patches on my knees and elbows to all over my body. Both postulate and scaling. I have tried everything, and had good results with some, not so much with others.
I'm here to help with advice, support; if needed

Vitamin d3 , but not today ! Too much uvb, which for me can agitate psoriasis.
Im sure Mr Vale's is positive and works for some sufferers..... but psoriasis has not been cured...its an auto m unitive thing ....diet is not always a cure....mushrooms are good too. I found if you can stop itching and or scratching your on the first road there

Thank you everyone for responding to my discussion. The update with my psoriasis is that it's still going up and down. Since April started I cut down a bit with the diet as stress and pressure is taking a lot of my time since it's my final year. I'm still eating healthy in a way where I eat healthy breakfast and lunch but have my mom's cooked dinner.
However, my psoriasis is less red and not itchy - it's never been itchy before, only red. I kinda expected the diet to work within one month because I've heard people saying that it takes 30 days, well now I know that's not true!
Again, Thank you everyone and I'll be taking your advice and experiences in consideration especially when I'll have time to fix myself during summer!

Clearskinpls......I already said it wasn't a cure. But it IS clear skin. And the correct diet works for thousands of people. Both famous people like Mr. Vale, and an average JoeBlow like me.

Tavl. Some people get relief quickly with diet. But most people find it takes up to a year. But with your current stress levels, you are on the back foot to begin with.

Hi Mary
Im genuinely happy for you
Everyone has different bodies.
Believe me ive tried every diet under the sun
Im happy for mr vale that he has conquered his psoriasis himself and helped others.....but a fit regime sometimes can cost..and we dont always have the financial situation to follow his path

OK
Well to be honest ClearskinPls, you don't sound particularly pleased or happy for me at all.
I took the time to type up a in-depth reply about something that I have a lot of experience with and excellent success with.
And you just negatively dismissed it. Without particularly adding anything positive or worthwhile to the conversation
As for expense, well I spent many thousands of pounds on medication, doctors, dermatologists and other skin specialists over the years with zilch result.
Since I have to eat to stay alive anyway, the cost of diet or fit regime, simply fits in with everyday life.
Anyway I will say no more on the subject, since you seem to be the expert on clear skin.
Good luck Tavl with your studies, and finding something that offers relief for your skin.
:)

All I did was check out Mr Vales site
Good luck to him but I can buy a box of vedgables from Aldi at a fraction of the price and get a juicer from argos cheap too. How you spend your money is of course your business. I too have studied nutrition and know you dont have to spend.....
As for the negativity ...I apologise however its wasted as you may or may not accept it
Alas psoriasis sufferers like me and you alike have sometimes a short fuse re psoriasis...
We all have to live with it

Mary I found your post very helpful, thanks for asking the time to
Write it all down. I’m dairy free and eat no nightshade vege and am looking if next drastic step to go vegan is worth it (I love meat and it helps keep me stuck to diet as don’t get hungry). Also dandelion tea is great advice thank you x
Ps. It’s probably also worth saying that I have had great success with water fasting. But that’s not everyone’s cup of tea!
