ARAVA - anyone ? (aka leflunomide)

started a week ago , as methotrexate was intolerable and did not reduce inflammation . 1. wasn't told so by the doctor but read in the leaflet that you need a special "elimination" process if you want to stop arava - what's that ? 2. a day after starting . got an exacerbation of inverse psoriasis - familiar to anyone? 3. joint are so painful all over -ankles, knees; hips; wrists' elbows, shoulders, neck,an spine - if i sit still more than 10 minutes it is excrutiating painful to get up an d it takes a while for the joints to move. wha has helped you with this ? 4. has anyon been diagnosed with fibromialgia in addition to PsA? thank you!

Can only answer part. 'The active metabolite of leflunomide, A771726, has a long half-life, usually 1 to 4 weeks. Serious undesirable effects might occur (e.g. hepatotoxicity, haematotoxicity or allergic reactions, see below), even if the treatment with leflunomide has been stopped' basically it means some people need another medication to get rid of it if they have had severe reactions or very abnormal liver tests. It's called cholestyramine and us usually taken for 11 days to 'wash out' your system
