UV treatment for scalp psoriasis

I’ve had scalp psoriasis for about 30yrs but recently it’s totally out of control. None of the lotions, ointments, shampoos etc help any more so I’ve been referred to a dermatologist for UV treatment but I’ve heard mixed results for its efficacy on the scalp. I have extremely thick hair also. Has anyone had UV treatment for scalp psoriasis and what were the results?
