Traditional Chinese medicine.

I am 73 yrs and have had ps for the last 21 years. I read an article about a girl who had ps from the age of 10 and was prescribed the usual topical steroid creams for years to no affect. She then starting using tcm with great success. My point, after some research led me to buying some regular tcm cream, purported to cure ps. Made no difference, was even a good emollient! During my research I uncoverd some facts that the manufacturers were putting Clobetasol, a powerful steroid in their creams, one in particular named Yangerling is banned and anyone selling it should be reported to the MHRA, which is the UK gov equivalent to the US FDA. Clobetasol not to be confused with Clobetasone which can be bought over the counter, I have given up on the magic cures and now only use anything you would use on a baby. From bath oil to sudacreme.

Interesting, Sea Fossil. Many years ago I went though a phase of trying Chinese remedies,, even going down to London to see a specialist, and my dermatologist said that was fine, it was up to me, but would I please let him have anything I found I wanted to keep using so he could have it analysed as whilst he accepted many of our drugs were very potent, the difference was that they monitored us. I, too, didn't find anything I wanted to use although I did drink some revolting concoctions they mixed up for me!

Hi Lizziep, Thought to mention that my usual routine whilst getting UVB is to bathe twice a week in Dead Sea Salt. I usually add 3/4 of a plastic ltr jug to the water, leaving the jug under the hot tap whilst it is filling and voila 20 mins later i am flake free and ready to splash on the Epimax. It seems to make sense to remove the flakes before UVB or I doubt whether the light would penetrate. I was clear at the beginning of November with up to 5 mins on UVB then the Nurse decided on a change of career- so didnt complete my course. Then came my booster and flu vax at the same time and my PS erupted arrrrgh! My Derma Doc says it could be up to six months before a replacement nurse is found.

There is a one significant diference between "Traditional Chinese medicines" and simply ointments bought from China. It is not unusual to find that claimed herbal ointments actually contain undisclosed ingredients such as steroid. These are not traditional treatments at all. for example: https://www.psoriasis-association.org.uk/news/yiganerjing-cream-found-to-contain-steroids

Take a look into Qing Dai (Indigo) cream - suggest you approach a herbal doctor registered with the RCHM https://rchm.co.uk/ so you can be assured of their standards. Some time back I posted research into indigo cream, no idea how to find that thread now, but if you are research minded you can look at research on Pub Med quite easily. Good luck.
