I used to be so confident and outgoing but now a shell of my former self due to psoriasis

Mine is like that at the moment any movement I make hurts and burns and itches , saw a consultant yesterday and got to have blood tests and if they all come back fine they may start me on methotrexate.

Hi Diane, at the moment I am awaiting an appointment with Dermatology but have been waiting a couple of months now and dont expect to hear anything until at least Novemebermy Psoriasis and Arthritis are really getting me down. I feel as though I want to cry all the time. Absolutely nothing works or eases the burning and itching that you describe and which Ive have had non stop now for 2 months. There is no relief from it, Ive tried everything. The only thing that gives any relief is Elocon but that only helps for a few hours and then it comes back with a vengeance. I just don't use anything anymore. I, like you, would love someone to say try this or try that but the only thing I have found is putting a bag of frozen peas on my back until I can hardly bear it and that sort of freezes it for a while so I do it before I go to bed and it helps me to sleep. I feel for you and please let me know how you get on and I'll do the same.

Hi Karen Louise I was on methotrexate for over 20 yrs it did help but made sick on a weekly basis and caused me to have liver damage they took me off it I’ve had many treatments and creams and the ones I’m on now are ok but it’s still inflamed and very sore n painful but I am trying a new injection I’m just waiting to hear could take about 4 weeks x

Hi Diane, Thank your for letting me know about the grease 50/50, I think I have had that one before because it left patches on the sheets. I have had this since I was 6 years old but it wasn't as bad when I was younger, it seems to have got worse since I got older. I have had numerous rounds of narrow band treatment which always worked for me and in fact always got at least 95% clearance. I was halfway through another round of this and was going to be put on something called Acetretin but we went into lockdown and all my treatment was stopped. For some unknown reason throughout lockdown my Psoriasis completely cleared up so when I was called in for my appointment I was discharged; that's why I am waiting so long for an appointment but I am hoping to get the same treatment and I think I would rather go on Methotrexate. I have always refused the biologics but I think its what I have to do now. In the meantime the search goes on for something that will ease the itching and burning. Dovanex used to do it and and had Enstillar which worked perfectly once, the next time I used it nothing happened at all.. Please let me know how the injections go. Good luck. xxx

Thanx for reply Vanessa just be careful if you go on methotrexate cuz I was constantly sick 3 days a week I never went out and it caused liver damage I do hope it works for you I was on it for 20 yrs x but the injection I’m trying is my 3rd attempt the last one I was on cleared it to just a little I was good for about 3 months but got up one morning to be plastered in it again it came back with a vengeance so they told me to stop it then lockdown happened and I took a year out I wasn’t in a good place so didn’t want treatment I was doing ok till January this year wen I has a severe flare up I had to bandage my feet and legs struggled to walk so my drs sent a letter to my skin specialist and this is where I am now I’m really hoping it helps but not just for 3 months otherwise I don’t know wat is gonna happen I’m keeping my fingers crossed xx
