Psoriasis getting me down

Posted Tue 9 Aug 2016 22.25 by suekysusie

Hi all I have suffered with psoriasis since I was 17 and I am now 45 and its only getting worse. I started out with plaque psoriasis on my legs, knees, arms, elbows and also on my scalp. I was given all sorts of different creams, ointments and shampoos to help it, however it's not eased its just got worse. It has got out of control this year to a point where it's really getting me down. I now have plaque, scalp, guttate over many areas of my body and also inverse psoriasis under my arm pits and in other sensitive areas. I am now getting it on my face as well :-( I am so sore and itchy it's making me cry and no matter what I do or use seems to be helping. The doctor has finally referred me to a dermatologist but the waiting list is so long, so not sure when I will finally be seen. I am currently using Dovobet and many other creams, ointments and shampoos but they just don't seem to touch it. I am at my wits end with it all now and its really getting me so so down. I was wondering if any of you lovely people out there can help me in how I can deal with it and doctors to eventually get some relief. I am sure you guys know of things that have helped you and may be able to ease my soreness and itch until I am seen next. Feel like no one seems to understand just how much it hurts and it's not getting any better. I am suffering everyday and nothing seems to be helping. Many thanks Suekysusie xxx

For several years...drives me mad but won't bring me down.

Warm bath with plenty Dead Sea salt. A few times a week-Unless you've got really broken skin. I find it helps me relax but more importantly after half s hour or so I exfoliate skin which clears plaques and it feels much better for a few days. Not a cure but it helps me. Check what your eating for poss inflammatory issues...good luck plenty of us share your feelings.

I have had since I was a baby and I'm now 32. I have tried every treatment possible. I have tried every weird treatment I read on these forum. From rubbing banana peels to going to bed covered in cling film!! A couple of years ago I was at my worst. I was on steroids, methotrexate plus all sorts of creams, lotions etc. I decided to come off all the drugs. I made a scrub from olive oil and sugar. I swear within a month I was so much clearer. After one month and all the drugs were out my system I added in two sunbeds a week. I'm now completely clear and able to wear dresses and skirts.

Try the thing that cleared mine up when I was on holiday. Though he told me not to, here, the telephone number of the man who did this for me. 07417501499. He'll probably be willing to help you, as he helped me. I'm still completely clear. He's a really nice man, so is his wife, and son.

I have had psorisasis for many many years and have tried all the ointments and light treatments which help for a while and then it returns. I was about to start on the methotrexate treatment. However whilst waiting for the appointment I started using a beeswax cream for my very dry cracked feet and was so impressed that i started using it on my psoriasis. I am so impressed - I am clear (though my skin is pigmented - but there is no psoriasis). I also take Omega 3 and Vitamin D capsules. I cant say that the Ps has gone forever as I am sure it will return but its worth trying this! good luck - I hope it works for you too. The beeswax has to be natural with no preservatives ( ie lanoline etc)

Hi. I'm Jerry. I have had the same trouble as you on my lower legs. 4 years of the doctors messing around with different creams did nothing. A dermatologist finally approved me for narrow band u v b light therapy. I am just coming to the end of a course of 30 treatments. Two treatments weekly increasing dosage by 10% each time. I am now on 2 1/2 minutes. It has been completely successful. The only cream I need now is Cetraben lotion 3 times daily. I intend to get my own lamp in case it comes back. Starting at 15 seconds and increasing by 10% each time. I would recommend this course of action to anyone. The lamps are expensive (average £127) but for the results you get it is well worth it.
