Hi there,
I’m currently doing the same as you and trying everything I can. I high dosed vitamin D for a year. I started at 4000iu per day, then after a month or so, I went up to 10,000 a day. I noticed a huge improvement but it didn’t last. Now, it’s complicated, but I was covered 90% of my body, primarily arms, legs and scalp and face. Now when it started clearing up, my body psoriasis completely cleared, but the vitamin d didn’t improve my scalp psoriasis at all.
The clearing lasted for around two months, which felt amazing, then a spot reappeared on my arm and I stupidly used Enstilar foam on it which in turn caused me to outbreak again. I cannot use Enstillar now as I have a bad reaction to it. I’m now dealing with serrboric dermatitis which I believe was caused by the Enstillar. The psoriasis has come back, but is nowhere near as bad as it once was. I also just felt better taking Vitamin D.
I then tried taking 30,000iu a day, to see if that would bring it back down, but I started showing signs of what I think was hypercalcemia - thirsty, urinating a lot, etc. So I have stopped taking vitamin D for at least 6 months.
Psoriasis is still the same, but better than it was before I started taking the vit D. I would certainly give it a go if I were you, but if you can, get your levels checked.
I was confident in high dosing because my vit D levels were extremely low - below 12 -
Hope this helps.
I got psoriasis at age 62 after a strep throat.
I was given enstilar which was brutal for me. My mental health suffered greatly.
Now after 2 weeks of stopping it's back. I can't cope.
I realise now what living with this is like.
I've changed back to clean eating this week. No sugar grains carbs of any kind. No fruit.
No inflammation!
Good luck 🍀

I must be on the rare side of the spectrum because I can safely take lower amounts such as 1000iu per day and be fine however when I upped it to 10,000iu within 2-3 days I started getting incredibly anxious and stressed and through a bit of research there is a small group of people that tend to experience this and I just happened to be in that group.. Sad but it happens. Back to the drawing board but don’t let that stop you trying. For me I think actual exposure to the sun works rather than synthetic

Hello
I went up to 12,000 units daily of vitamin D and included daily recommended dosages of cod liver oil, K2, apple cider vintage (for kidney stones) plus multivitamin. Kept it up for 3 to 4 weeks and then reduced the vitamin D back to 4,000 units per day.
The lower dose of D, plus all of the above needs to be maintained pretty much forever.
My experience is very positive. I have a healthy diet that includes all food sources + alcohol. I do avoid high processed, junk foods.
Apparently, washing new clothes in non bio before wearing them is important ( the ones that are in major contact with skin) It gets rid of all the manufacturers nasty chemicals.. I've had bloods results back recently that shows 150 nmol/L, so I've lots of D in my system. I started the above program about 10 weeks ago. and as I said, I'm really happy with results and away from the drawer full of different steroids.
I really, really, hope others find this approach works for them.

Annie1962, I have been suffering from psoriasis for the past ten years, following some very complicated medical issues. Interestingly for me, you mentioned cutting out sugar. This has so far been the only method of controlling my symptoms, with the beneficial side effect of losing weight too! I have to be very strict with myself, but the results are rapid and well worth it. (I am not 100% psoriasis free all the time, but am able to achieve that more often than not). I don’t eat meat, (probably irrelevant),
No, it's not irrelevant but not essential. Eating a mainly carnivore diet has been beneficial to me and only eating very low carb veg cauliflower, broccoli etc.
But definitely cutting out sugar has not only kept the psoriasis calmer, I also reversed my T2D and as you point out lost weight (Brucie bonus). I occasionally will have some 85% dark chocolate as a wee treat and it definitely kills that sugar craving.
If like me you fall off the wagon on occasion, the psoriasis will let you know within a day! Good luck, we all need it. Also a very happy and healthy New Year Caroline x

Hi
I have had psoriasis since I was 4 and am now 60. For years I used steroid creams which thinned my skin so badly it would tear at the slightest bump and I was covered in bruises. I had psoriasis on my scalp, knees, elbows, torso , hands and feet. I had tried dietary mgt with no great results so started to do some research on what alternatives were out there. I happened upon a 2004 ( I think) research study into the efficacy of high dose oral vitamin d and its effect. I have to say it looked impressive. The high dose was 60,000 units a day and I decided to try it. I did look at side effects and there was no long term study of anything and the thinking seemed to be it was unlikely to harm. So about 18 months ago I began. Since then I have used barely any steroid cream , have had no flare ups and apart from a patch on my knee am free. As a result of no steroids my skin doesn’t tear or bruise. I don’t know if it would work for everyone however it’s worked for me and I would suggest people google the research and give it a try …. I hope it works for you as it has for me x https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/314549 Is a recent article
