scalp and ears

Has anyone experienced p in their ears. I havent had a professional diagnosis but am fairly sure I have p in my ear canal. pain and itching in the ear with red flaky skin, constant build of ear wax. Had my ears syringed only weeks ago and they are blocked up again. I was diagnosed with scalp p some years ago so it would seem fairly possible I now have it in my ears. Any help would be appreciated

Have had psoriasis since I was 6years old, never completely gone

my sister had it in her ear, she used warm olive oil and really helped to clear it up! i have it on the outer ear its a right pain!

Sorry to read you're having problems with your ears. Had ongoing problems and repeated syringing until gp practice stopped doing it as not cost efficient. Turned out to be blessing in disguise. Went to an audiologist (nurse ear specialist). Not cheap but worth it. She suggests asking gp to make referral if necessary as psoriasis in ear canals need particular care. Syringing is not good for them - procedure can irritate psoriasis so causing a viscious cycle. Also water can build up in the canal and lead to increased infection. Over the counter products to get rid of wax also irritate psoriasis. Instead, I have my ears micro suctioned. This can be done at hospital if ears become completely blocked and you're referred by your gp. From my experience, avoid it if possible. It's a one stop appointment and although they cleared the ears it was the most excrutiating pain I have experienced. Olive oil is the best thing. It is non irritating, softens the wax, and encourages it to move along the canal. Apparently wax becomes hard and attaches to psoriasis so doubling the problem. You can buy a bottle with pipette dropper from any chemist for pennies and put some oil in it. Put a couple of drops in alternate ears each week and that should keep wax soft and moving. My audiologist is a star. She has taken 3 appointments before to clear mine and only charged for one. The psoriasis around/in my ears seems calmer too probably because it isn't irritated by the oil. Sorry for long post but appreciate what a problem ears are for many people and how carefully they should be looked after. Best wishes.

I have ear p and it is a complete pain just read the post by saintsfan and found what they were saying really interesting I have had it in my ears since I was 15 wondering if the treatment you had would work for me would you recommend it and did having p in your ears affect your hearing it does with me :-/

Hi fellow p sufferers, I also am troubled with ear psoriasis and use olive oil regulary.Even though this is a pain it makes it much more bareable when you can come onto this forum and see I'm not alone.

I have had psoriasis for 5 years, and am struggling to control it and find it very hard to manage. It is very sore on my elbows and bottom a

psoriasis in the ears is very uncomfortable.Olive oil warmed Is soothing.

olive oil also works..... I didnt ever realise that I has ear p until i read this post, I thought i was just flaking from the back of my ear but i tired a dripper with some olive oil in and have noticed a difference already (2 days!) Thanks STilly :D

Eczema and Psoriasis since birth, on scalp and other areas.

I've always had serve problems just like what you described, they used to bleed a lot in addition. Weirdly enough I finally got the guts to get my ears pierced, despite my problems, about a year ago and the problem almost entirely stopped immediately after that... perhaps I just pay better attention to them (:

Hi, I signed up to the site when I saw your post! I have p since I was a child, the last couple of months I have it in my ear/behind it, I thought I was the only one! I try to leave my hair down all the time so hide it.I hate if anyone touches my hair or anything. I see all the suggestions about Olive oil, which I'm going to try.

Hi! I've always had p in my ears, I've tried many things, now I have a hot bath every couple of days and rub away the skin and put some vit D moisturiser on. It gets particularly bad in cold weather or when I'm very stressed. It cracks and bleeds inside and outside my ears but I find the warm water always soothes it. I never ever get waxy ears, just a horrible black lump now and again, gross but true!! :-)

My husband is suffering with it

My husband started with P on his scalp but now has it in his ears. He has been using Tgel to try and clear his head but to no avail. Sometimes it looks like its clearing up and then it flares up again, so now I've decided that he must seek professional help with it as it seems to be causing him to lose his hair as well. Is there an ointment that can be used on his scalp to clear it up and well as in his ears ? does anyone know?

I get frequent ear infections due to psoriasis in my ear canals followed by flaking and infection. I also have patches on my legs, including

I have psoriasis in my ears and I am one of those people that also produces very little ear wax. The result is frequent ear infections (between 4 and 10 infections each year!)... I only discovered it was psoriasis all these years when I had a flare-up on my legs for the first time and suddenly had the pitted nails that often occur with psoriasis. I had tried olive oil in my ears (Dr's recommendation), but unfortunately it didn't help me, unlike some of the other members here (everyone is different!). I have started using Exorex 5% solution on my legs, which is amazing! I am now trying to put small amounts of Exorex 5% onto a bud and gently applying it to the ear canals when they are itchy...perhaps not ideal but I am hoping it may work as well as it did on my legs!! Fingers crossed, as it would be life-transforming!

I have ear p as well. It felt as though I had it all the way in my ear drum but I didnt. I went to my specialist and he prescribed Topicort. I sprayed it on a qtip and applied it only around the outside and part of the inside wall (not all the way in) of my ears. It went away in about 4 days. Your best bet is to have a specialist see you.

I have had scalp MAJOR psoriasis that affected my ears and ear canals. NOW: My scalp is pretty clear BUT my ears are suffering still.

I had a MAJOR experience in my life recently: I had MAJOR scalp psoriasis that progressed INTO my ears...My scalp is now cleared but not my ears yet. I had my dear friend do the "ear candles" to me...an ENORMOUS amount of wax came out///I would say that after 4 candles per ear: THe equivalent of 6 inches of solid wax and dead skin came out. I was relieved by that practice.It is weird to say that but it is also a "spiritual" experience...I felt a form of purification via that process...colearly. I DO NOT recommend to do it alone. This is a practice that is very powerful and you need the correct angle to it. Also: I am a solid exception here with 4 candles per ear over a 2 month period...I recommend the BEST candles, beewax and tight. My scalp cleared since and now i just have to solve my ears. I also was wearing earplugs on a regular basis to sleep deeply and avoid the gardening noise agressions (blowers= regression of human race!)...SO: I love my experience because it changed me, purified me and it is SOOO cheap! Skin, scalp ears and now Psoriaic Arthritis

Over the years I have had psoriasis on my skin, scalp, ears and now I have developed Psoriaic Arthritis. I have had the microsuctioning of my ears and can definately confirm that it is a horrible procedure! I do get it now occasionally but I find the only way to stop it irritating is to try and leave it alone - do not touch! I know that is very difficult but it does go away after a couple of days. For the scalp I was prescribed a type of cream that was like a mixture of grains and cold tar - I think it was called cocomis (or something like that - ask your gp). I also washed (and still use) my hair with Nizoral which I can fully recommend. I would be interested to hear if anyone else has the arthritis and if they have any tips for dealing with it.

Yes I have ear psoriasis I went to the a and e dpt when I was having severe pain and hearing probs they referred me to ear nose throat clinic this was after getting ear drops from gp which did nothing except make it worse because the drops made my ears wet the micro suction is painfull but I have had it done a few times and it is not so bad now I am used to it scratches the parts your finger can't lol the nurse realised the drops were not working as well and put trimovate into my ears it worked a treat but you have to keep your ears dry and when washing your hair put cotton wool with Vaseline on it in your ears the Vaseline makes the cotton wool waterproof

Palmar pustular psoriasis and a job that involves a lot of walking/handwashing. Throw a toddler into the mix so not enough rest!

Hi new here too. I was diagnosed woth ear eczema when I was in my teens till about 21 and it was awful. It could of been psoriasis now though thinking back. It covered all of tge inside of my ears and the canal often going into the backby my hairline it often got infected and stank and looked hideous. I was fed up of the smell and oozing so had some antibiotics to clear the infection at the same time I went vegan. Who knows ifIit was a dairy intolerance but It just went and hasnt come back in years. The gp said I didnt have enough wax (I never had orange wax in there) and the dead skin would get stuck in there I used to get so frustrated with the itching inside my head. I got a cotton bud stuck in there twice once I had to go to hospital to get it removed as the gp couldn't. Funny now but I dont know how I didnt do myself some damage scratching. I find the best moisturiser for me to be shea butter.

I have had P for 25yrs mostly on my body and in my ears. This week I had a shock reaction to an infection is my ears caused by the psorias

Has anyone else suffered from repeated infections due to ear psoriasis ? How have you managed it ? I have just recovered from an anaphylactic shock reaction that put me in hospital due to the to the infection. This was so scary I never want to repeat the experience. Have now had suction at ENT but want to manage in a less radical/ intrusive way if possible. Can anyone offer any suggestions

It's on me!

I didn't know anyone else got this as my doctor told me it didn't exist! good to know I am not the only one and I will go back to my doctor now!
