Polytar Supply

my whole life - mainly on my scalp, elbows and neck now

Hi. Nice to meet you all - I am brand new :) After finding it difficult to get my hands on polytar over the past 3 weeks, I decided to call GSK (the UK distributors for Stifel, who make it) and they have advised me that they are not expecting any supplies until the middle of next year. I just thought it would give anyone who uses it the opportunity to grab some while they can, I saw loads on ebay and some Amazon sellers also have it, so there is some out there if you want to stock up. Have a lovely day! Kat

Yes

Hi Kat, welcome to our exclusive club! I used to use polytar but did not find it very effective. If you want to try an alternative I had used two products from Lush, Snake oil bar and anti flake solid shampoo. These have worked so well for me that I have finally had the confidence to have my hair cut. All the best

Have had it since I was six years old, diagnosed in 1974! Husband has it too...

Hi Kat, thanks for your post - I've been trying to buy Polytar shampoo, which I have been using for 38 years now (!), for months and was in a bit of a panic as it is the only thing that works for me. Thanks to your post, I've managed to get hold of some via eBay from Hong Kong and am a lot happier now...

I havent but my mum has and is is depressed and devestated

It is sad that many drugs, preperations are found on eBay. I have purchased several items, and on doing a reference check via batch and other methods, found them to be prescibed on prescription. It is my job to stamp out this, however eBay cant be bothered to stamp this out. Obviuosly some people clearly do not need the medication and sell it will those needing it suffer, especially when the companies have stock shortages. These people need t be reported and named and shamed!

I think people should buy GSK shares, if they are not already shareholders (and existing shareholders should do so) and ask at the AGM why they cant supply a simple product like a shampoo. The might of GSK. The Board and CEO need to be removed! I mean its not alchemy to produce this. Shame on GSK. One wonders what they are thinking of, certainly not its customers or shareholders. If there is an alternative to a product made by GSK then go for the non GSK product every time where possible. I read on a website that Boots had supplies, however this rumour proved to be just that a rumour! I recently was met with one woman who paid £50 for a bottle from eBay and it proved not to be genuine and she ended up further compounding her skin affliction. Beware. If you do buy Polytar from Ebay report the batch number and Lot to the prescription fraud service. There is a good chance it was obtained dubiously and the user clearly does not need it if they are selling it when the NHS paid for the item on the basis of need. It is further sad when we see some people are denied life changing medication /treatment due to the cost of the NHS.

Skin for 25 years, arthritis for 16

I heard it was more like 2015 as they are rebranding and have to go back through N.I.C.E. My pharmo suggested CAPASAL shampoo as it has a coaltar content. I told my doctor as he had many people wanting it - it is worth telling your doctor new treatments as they can prescribe it and they don't always know what products are out there!
