Hi everyone, I posted a few months ago when I was suffering with horrendous guttate psoriasis (which has now all but gone!!) however, I've had normal psoriasis all my life which has now flared up due to the guttate. I find, however, that it's particularly bad when I'm stressed, and I was just wondering if anyone had any tips or hints on how they deal with their stress and psoriasis? It's a bit of a vicious cycle as the stress gives me psoriasis, and the psoriasis makes me stressed.
Love to hear your comments, Allie.

Probably not much use but have you considered yoga or tai chi
as I have heard they provide some techniques for de stressing
Good luck

your absolutely right it is quite the dilemma, i have had ps since i was 14 (43 now) and i have been completely paranoid about it. kept my hair long, wore long sleeve tops and bottom in the boiling hot summer. blah blah. my soon to be wife is the only person to ever make me brave enough to wear those shorts or that t shirt and not too worry too much. she puts things in perspective. have you got good family/ friend support?? its critical!!

allie, I am the same as you, my work can be very stressful and that can cause a flare up and then I get stressed because of the flare up.
I tried Reiki, I felt great after it. A few people I know have tried and didn't think much of it, but might not be everyones cup of tea!
Posted Wed 3 Apr 2013 16.50 by AuntyStella I was lucky only to get psoriasis when I was 21 and pregnant and it went when I was 28.
A girl asked me how I got rid of my psoriasis and I told her I left my husband. I wasn't being funny. As soon as I got rid of the major source of stress in my life it went and has never really flared up again. I've had stress since but I've learned to be a calmer person. That's not a scientific answer but I'm absolutely convinced there's a link between stress and psoriasis.

Hello
Yes, stress makes it worse. But, what can you do as life has its ups and downs. I have been doing yoga for years and is a great stress reliever.

Great discussion: thanks for sharing! :-)
I've certainly found stress to be a factor if not the primary trigger to a ps outbreak. I'd certainly agree that if we can remove major sources of stress (like unhappy relationships or overly stressful jobs) from our lives, that's got to help. But sometimes that takes time to sort out (like finding a new job which is my current trigger for ps).
So I guess that any practice or activity that helps us to be calmer and more relaxed is worth pursuing. Like Rach I'd certainly recommend Reiki: not just receiving treatments but learning to do it for yourself so that you can do self-treatments whenever you need it.
