Hello, my wife has Psoriasis, she has had it for about 6 months, its on the back of her head and has now appeared on her fingers and hands. I feel so useless, I cannot do anything other than support her. She has been to see her GP but should she insist on seeing a dermatologist? Any advice welcome.

Yes. A dermatologist has access to a wide range of treatments that may help your wife.
Psoriasis affects people in many different ways and needs a long term approach to find which treatment works best for the individual.
Also do not be fobbed off by the "its only flaky skin" argument, psoriasis can seriously affect your self confidence
(as many people on this site have found).
If your doctor is reluctant, camp in his/her waiting room until you are taken seriously
All the best and good luck.

Psoriatic arthritis: toes, knees, wrists & fingers
She should see a dermatologist and possibly a rheumatologist.
Also, she should research psoriasis and it's non-pharmaclolgical (like turmeric and ginger etc.) treatments to get a wider view than just the standard '
take steriods and use this cream' approach.....
