This is working for me after years of psoriasis......i want to help others

Hi everyone, i would like to share with all some info on what i have found has helped by psoriasis, i have had plaque psoriasis since i was 18 and am now 32.... i have had many treatments over the years, coal tar treatments, dithranol, vitamin a and d treatmants, steriods, uvb and uva light treatmants tec - not many things worked, some improved it but only for a while esp thing like steroids as many of you will know psoriasis often gets worse in the winter when the air is more dry and improves in the summer- thats my experience anyway but most of the time its been moderate to severe. Winter returns and im feeling down and my skin began to flare up again and i began to get really down. Eventually i decided i either get down or try and find another way of helping myself so i decided to look toward the foods i was eating and a natural approach to moisturisers rather than covering my body in chemicles that only work for a short term, thi is what i did and 6 weeks in for the first time since i was 18 im starting to see a HUGE difference to the point that others are also beginning to notice how much better my skin is.......i looked on the internet and reasearched what effect food can have on psoriasis this is what i came up with..... I stopped drinking cows milk or any cows milk containing products altogether and switched to soya milk fortified with calcium so that i was still having a calcium intake I stopped eating red meat altogether- fish, chicken and turkey only I stopped eating anything white ie white bread, white rice- anything with white refined sugar in it and switched to brown/whole meal- i still do not eat alot of bread because im trialing to see if gluten has an affect on psoriasis Im eating as much green veg as i can I do not eat nightshade vegetables/fruit as they have a flammatory affect on psoriasis- these include tomatoes, peppers, aubergines I do not eat ready meals that are packed full of sugars, preservatives etc- everything i eat is either fresh or frozen from fresh OLIVE OIL is a big one for me, i use it for everything but most importantly in the bath - ive found it better than any prescription emollient plus its less chemicles on the body- i also use it neat as a moisturiser everyday and anything i cook that needs to be lightly fried i use olive oil, even spread that i would use on bread is an olive oil based spread- its amazing stuff I use surcare washing powder, softener and washing up liquid as it contains no dye or perfumes and washes just aswell as any other powder ive used I still drink alcohol but on a weekend only I take evening primrose containing vitamin e everyday I eat nothing sugary ie sweets etc ....all of this may seem difficult to do but it actually really is not and when you can see a different each day ive found giving up certain things is a small price to pay for having much better skin, its 6 weeks on and now my skin is id say 70% better its taking time as everything does but im shocked massivel;y at how much better my skin now is, i wanted to share this to all of you who suffer as i did and hope it will also help you, try it but dont be impatient as it does take time, im also going to ask my doctor to do some food intolerance tests on me to check if these thing ive cut out im axctually intolerant to, i did this out of desperation as nothing was working to control my psoriasis, please if anyone has any questions dont hesitate to ask me, Kelly xx

I have had psoriasis for 5 years, and am struggling to control it and find it very hard to manage. It is very sore on my elbows and bottom a

I'm going to try going without red meat, tomatoes, peppers, sweets.I have heard that mushrooms are very good for helping the immune system, has anyone else ?. Has anyone tried Manuka honey?.I think we must never give up trying new things,a lot must come from within,so what we eat goes into our blood and the blood feeds our skin.

I have had psoriasis for 5 years, and am struggling to control it and find it very hard to manage. It is very sore on my elbows and bottom a

I have changed my diet and have seen and feel the changes. The ltching has improved and my skin doesn't feel as sore.I only have almond milk,no acidic food e.g. tomatoes peppers and oranges, lemons.no sugar only Manuka honey, only in my porridge, white meat and oily fish,I love fresh tuna, it is very expensive, worth it.Green tea,Actimel one after my porridge.I have stopped using chemicals as after five years no further foreward, they just make my skin sore and the psoriasis spreads. I use eparderm and Dermalex which is a new cream on the market.when I shower I make sure the water is cool and keep the skin moist, dab with a soft towel.most important natural fabrics make me more comfortable, IVE BECOME MORE ACTIVE AND HAVE LOST WEIGHT, HAVE LEFT ALCOHOL ALONE FOR THE LAST THREE WEEKS, I AM SURE THAT HAS MADE A BIG DIFFERENCE. GOOD LUCK, THIS HAS HELPED ME, WILL LET YOU KNOW HOW I GET ON.

Knees and elbows

Hi. This is my first post. I would have started a new one but can't work out how and will probably "reply" to several as I would like to share my recent experience. My own psoriasis is (so far) confined to my elbows and knees and appeared shortly after I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes c.2000. I'm not going to claim to have found a cure but would like to share an experience which has helped me and which I will pursue further. I injured my left knee in December 2012 and started to wear a neoprene support during the day. I noticed that after taking the support off before retiring for the night that the whole of my knee area that had been covered was moist and that some of the dead/dry skin was sticking to the inside of the support. Over the next few months (and using several different neoprene knee supports to allow laundering), I noticed that the psoriasis symptoms on that knee were reducing to the point where I now (July 2013) consider it to have "cleared up". I stopped wearing the supports a couple of months ago as they were not helping my knee (meniscal cartilage tear), but the psoriasis signs have not yet returned. The other knee and both elbows remain as affected as before, so I am going to experiment with the neoprene support on my right knee and get some smaller ones for my elbows. The neoprene fabric seems similar to that used for diving gear. I assume it is working in reverse and keeping the body's water in rather than keeping the ocean out! I bought the support from the medical section of a Pound (type)-Shop, but also bought one with Velcro straps from my local Aldi when they had one of their Sports promotions. In terms of the psoriasis benefit the cheaper neoprene "sleeve" type functioned as well as the Velcro strapped version, but neither was expensive and anyway were being purchased as knee supports not psoriasis cures! I have no idea if my experience can be repeated with others whose symptoms match mine, but felt I had to pass it on. My GP has not heard of this before, but perhaps the combination of psoriasis, knee injury and neoprene has not occurred before? Good luck to any who try. Tony

Scalp, ears, midrif and a little on arms and legs

Hi there, My psoriasis greatly calmed down after following the principles in Konstantin Monastyrsky's book: 'Fiber Menace' - you can read all about his work here http://www.gutsense.org/. Personally I find his insights something of a revelation. After mentioning my progress with psoriasis to the author, he also kindly pointed me towards a histamine restriction diet which cuts out foods that cause inflammation. http://web.archive.org/web/20130325195625/http://urticaria.thunderworksinc.com/pages/lowhistamine.htm#foodsource My psoriasis continued to calm down further, however it flares up quite quickly if I don't keep my histamine intake low, and this is a little difficult when you are away from home. I am now on a mission to get rid of any skin products with preservatives and other nasties in and give my body a break from everything that is causing stress and inflammation. Hopefully this will be the final touch to clear the psoriasis up completely. For those of you who are feeling down about your psoriasis, I hope you find some relief from this information. My dermatologist refused to even discuss diet in relation to psoriasis as there is no scientific proof of a connection. However, if it works for me, I hope it will work for you too. I have always sensed that diet played a major part, but I couldn't quite figure it out. I hope this helps, and Good Luck!

Got it at 13 and destroyed my confidence, avoided all fun things, swimming, parties, holidays with friends and this continued into adult life

Hi, I got psoriasis at 13 virtually everywhere at 22 went vegetarian and it improved, at 52 went vegen, now 56, I haven't had an attack for 3 years. You may think your giving up a lot but I'm swimming , playing sport, going to parties without worrying about people,my confidence is high. Drink plenty of water, limit alcohol, enjoy the sunshine.May not work for everyone and will take a few months and try and buy organic food and soap, shampoo.

I can add two more point which is suggested by doctor in India. 1. Don't use more chemical soap/shampoo, try to use baby soap/shampoo which has less chemical. 2. Avoid all sore items (tomato, lemon, orange) 3. Don't drink cool drinks. I have followed above three, I controlled, but winter time it rise again, but one or two places. this formula found by me, buy one olive oil, cut garlic and small onion put inside the bottle. try to apply where its rising. see result after two weeks. Note. the smell is not good. but it cured me.

Hello, I am new here. I googled (giving up milk cured my psoriasis) and this forum was at top. My psoriasis has been really bad on my head recently. Going back to March this Year 2020 I gave up all Milk Products and by August my Psoriasis completely cleared up on my scalp. By September I was missing cheese and chocolate and I started eating loads of it. Psoriasis is back, flaky, itchy red and sore. I think come next couple of days I too will give up dairy milk products again. Its bad enough because I can't eat wheat as it gives me stomach acid reflux.
