The British Dermatological Nursing Group (BDNG) Conference 2024

This year, we attended The British Dermatological Nursing Group (BDNG) annual conference, in Harrogate, between 17th – 19th September. We headed up to scenic Harrogate, with our leaflets and information sheets in tow, ready for a busy and productive three days.

The BDNG is a professional organisation for nurses and other healthcare professionals who are interested in dermatology. Their annual conference features a variety of different activities. Across the three days attendees were able to join educational sessions, visit exhibitions and view poster displays, (which focussed primarily on research projects). Nurses, student nurses and other HCPs new to dermatology were also able to attend “Derm School”. We attended some of the lectures and found the talks extremely insightful, with lots of key takeaways.

Our comms team held a stand within the Patient Support Group (PSG) hub at the conference, which took place at the Harrogate Convention centre. Being alongside other PSGs allowed us to engage in discussions about common issues and the latest advances in the charity sector for conditions which affect the skin.

We had lots of people come over to the stand across the 3 days. Many nurses were already aware of the association, informing us that they really value our resources and regularly signpost patients to our information. We also had lots of people pop over to say hi, or express interest in receiving more resources.

We were able to inform nurses and visitors to our stand about current opportunities at the Psoriasis Association, such as our current Trustee Role and upcoming plans for Awareness Week.

It was wonderful to have a presence and this years’ BDNG and we made invaluable connections with the psoriasis community and those who work in the field.
