'Right Treatment: Right Time' Keynote Speaker Announcement Speaker Announcement 2025

Preparation for our upcoming ‘Right Treatment: Right Time' conference is well underway and we're looking forward to welcoming you on Saturday 28th June.

The conference will take place at the County Hall in London, Belvedere Road (SE1 7PB) between 1oam - 4pm. You can book your space here.

The day promises to be full of educational talks from expert speakers, bringing you latest updates on psoriasis care and treatment.

We are starting off our speaker series by introducing three of our esteemed speakers: Professor Darren Ashcroft, Dr Thivi Maruthappu, and Sylvia Zanesco.

Professor Darren Ashcroft

Talk title: Psoriasis in the UK today: who gets the condition and when

Professor Darren Ashcroft holds the Foundation Chair in Pharmacoepidemiology at the University of Manchester and is a National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) Senior Investigator. Since 2017, he has been the Director of Research for the Global Psoriasis Atlas (GPA) and he is an appointed councillor for the International Psoriasis Council (IPC).

He has many years of experience working with large electronic healthcare databases in the UK, particularly the Clinical Practice Research Datalink and he will describe plans for new research funded by the Psoriasis Association to improve our knowledge on the epidemiology of psoriasis in the UK, and particularly how this may vary between people from different ethnic groups.

Previously, he was an investigator on the Identifying and Managing Psoriasis-Associated ComorbidiTies (IMPACT) research programme and the MRC-funded Psoriasis Stratification to Optimise Relevant Therapy (PSORT) consortium.

Dr Thivi Maruthappu

Talk title: Psoriasis: the link between nutrition and diet

Dr Thivi Maruthappu MA PhD FRCP ANutr is a Consultant Dermatologist, Nutritionist and leading Researcher. As the UK’s first and only dual-qualified Dermatologist and Nutritionist, her pioneering expertise bridges the gap between diet and skin health. Dr Thivi continues to work in the NHS and has her own practice based at London’s renowned Cleveland Clinic. She is frequently invited as a Keynote speaker for health care professionals and organisations globally on the topic of nutrition and the skin, as well as conducting ground-breaking research at King’s College, London, where she is an Honorary Senior Lecturer.

Her passion is a holistic approach to skin health, incorporating precision nutrition, mindfulness practice, personalised skin care and medical treatments, where appropriate. Based on over 14 years of dermatology practice, this exceptional approach is the subject of her book, “SkinFood, The Ultimate Nutritional Guide to Healthy Skin”.

Sylvia Zanesco

Talk title: Linking diet and fasting with psoriasis (hot research topic 1)

Sylvia is a Registered Associate Nutritionist and final year PhD student at King's College London. Following a dual qualification in Nutrition from the University of Reading in Nutrition and Food Science (BSc) and an MSc in Clinical Nutrition and Disordered Eating from University College London, Sylvia started her career as a Nutritionist at ZOE.

Sylvia was a Research Nutritionist on the PREDICT studies, as well as a Nutrition Coach. As part of the Diet and Psoriasis Project, Sylvia has been researching the role of diet in the management of psoriasis conducting both an observational study, and clinical trial testing the effect of diet on the severity of psoriasis.
