PCDS Annual Meeting 2025

The Psoriasis Association were invited to host the Patient Support Group (PSG) stand at this years' Primary Care Dermatology Society (PCDS) Annual Meeting.

The PCDS was formed as the founding GPs recognised the need for a forum to share views on primary care dermatology, develop skills and advance clinical research in the field of dermatology. Since it's inception, the PCDS has grown significantly and has over 4000 members today.

Each year, the PCDS host an annual meeting, with a range of stands from various establishments. This year, The Psoriasis Association was given the opportunity to host the PSG stand and represent the organisation, as well as display materials for other charities for skin-health related conditions.

The meeting took place across two days on March 14th and 15th in Harrogate, at the Majestic hotel. The meeting was attended by a variety of healthcare professionals (HCPs) in the field of dermatology and the busy agenda offered a wide range of interesting talks and workshops.

There were workshops on hair and scalp problems, systemics, skin of colour and an interactive session on top topics for topicals.

Georgia, Digital Communications Officer, who hosted our stand, attended the session on topicals and found it extremely informative, with the practical demonstration being particularly useful.

Our stand was visited by a wide range of HCPs including dermatology nurses, community pharmacists and dermatologists. The HCPs mentioned they really valued our work, and regularly directed patients to our website and resources. Visitors to our stand said they were very impressed with the wide range of support we offer, and how important our peer-to-peer support networks, such as our forums are to people living with psoriasis.

The event was a chance for us to display our new leaflet series, in its entirety. The leaflets, which have been redesigned to have a fresh new look, feature real-life images of psoriasis across a wide range of people living with the condition. The images demonstrate how the condition can vary in appearance and are ideal for taking along to medical appointments.

Many of the attendees complimented the new leaflet series and said how important it is to have visual representation of psoriasis.

The leaflets are ready to download via our leaflets and information sheets webpage or alternatively, reach out to our helpline if you would like hardcopies sent out to you via post.

Overall, attending the PCDS Annual Meeting was a real valuable experience for The Psoriasis Association. It was great to network with dermatology healthcare professionals and educate them about the services we provide, and hear their positive feedback.
