Four Successful Applications in 2017 Research Grant Funding Round

The Psoriasis Association is funding three PhD Studentship Grants and one Small Grant in the latest funding round.

One of the main aims of the Psoriasis Association is to promote and fund research into the causes, nature and care of psoriasis and to publish and disseminate the results of that research.

This year's research grants have now been announced, with three PhD Studentship Grants awarded, along with one Small Grant. PhD Studentships support the next generation of psoriasis researchers, and usually last for three years.

The PhD Studentship Grants have been awarded to:

• Professor Eugene Healy of Southampton University: Mutation burden of narrowband UVB
• Dr Francesca Capon of King's College London: The role of IL-1 and IL-36 in palmar plantar pustulosis (PPP)
• Dr Richard Warren of the University of Manchester: The risk of cancer in psoriasis patients treated with biologic therapies compared with conventional systemic therapies: results from the British Association of Dermatologists Biologics and Immunomodulators Register (BADBIR)

The Small Grant has been awarded to:

• Dr Henry Grantham of Newcastle University: A pilot study to compare the response of psoriasis to narrow-band UVB phototherapy in the morning and afternoon
