I suffer with Psoriasis on my hands.

Hey everyone, So after the last 3 years of being treated for severe eczema they referred me to a dermatologist, and last Friday finally was told it was Psoriasis. Didnt know anything about this condition only that my great granddad suffered badly with it. Mine seems to stay on my right hand, but often moves around? the inside of my hand looks like I've actually burned my skin off, my nail beds have gone and chunks of dead skin coming off, but the worst of it is the slightest knock and then just split open and bleed. I've started loosing the sensitivity in the end of the one finger (the worst one) feels kind of numb, is this normal? When and if I can get this under control, will it regain all its normal feeling? thanks everyone Tasha x

hi Tasha. this is exactly what i have. My skin is so sensitive on my fingers and between my thumbs the skin cracks and bleeds. My finger ends are very sensitive and painful and split at the slightest of touches. Im a nurse , but im finding i cant continue doing this because of this.I use a moisuriser up to 8 times a day, but within half an hour of using this my skin is dry and cracking. It also feels like my skin is made of plastic. It is depressing.

Sorry to hear about problems with skin and joints. I've had psoriatic arthritis for some time and have similar problems with hands and feet. Recently my toes were very inflamed with skin peeling off and nail disintegrating. Usual prescriptions which I use on rest of my skin didn't help. I'd heard about Emu Oil being a traditional remedy and after researching found a chiropodist in London called Margaret Dabbs whose treatments include it. I bought some of her products and skin improved immediately. Still have the inflamed joints which can cope with but pain from the skin has gone. I use her foot scrub, bathing cream, intensive treatment for a home pedicure and everyday lotion. We also used it on my father in law before he died as his feet and lower legs were in a terrible condition. It didn't get rid of his swelling but at least his skin calmed down. I've tried plenty of things over 35 years and am pretty sceptical about most but this stuff is now in my armoury for looking after my feet - guess it would work for hands too. Benefit is it has a pleasant slightly lemony aroma which makes a pleasant change from most prescriptions! It isn't cheap but it lasts for ages. Hope you find something to help.
