UV treatment

Hi, I found this thread very informative, reassuring for the people who are starting with UVB treatment. I am suffering with guttate psoriasis covering almost all parts of the body and its a real mess. After multiple steroid lotions treatments which only offered temporary remission but aggravated the problem on return, i was finally put on UVB treatment 2 times a week and acitretin (25mg dosage on alternate days). I have had 6 sessions till now and yet to see the improvement. Raises my hopes looking at some of the comments in this thread and keeping fingers crossed. it started peeling excessively once i started with the treatment and the peeling intensity is going down now. Is it normal? Appreciate for sharing your experiences.

Hi Everybody, I;ve been looking into this model for a long time now, any body have any experience with it? It seems like the best one for the price and it uses Philips UVB bulbs https://www.carelamps.com/collections/frontpage/products/derma-uvb

I finished my uv treatments back in December 2017. My psoriasis completely cleared up on my elbows, forearms, lower back and knees. Unfortunately, 8 months later, it has returned again to my elbows, knees and knuckles. The 8 months of clear skin was amazing, wearing shirts and shorts again was fantastic. UV treatment certainly works and I'm currently looking at buying a UV lamp to use at home and see how that goes. I'll update in due time in regards to the home UV lamp. https://www.dermfix.com.au/uv-b-shop/1000mx-psoriasis-uvb-lamp-237.html

Found out what caused my flare up after 8 months of being free. It turns out I now have guttate psoriasis which was triggered by an infection. I fell quite ill recently for a week and within a few days of recovering, small tiny red spots started to appear over my body. Restarted UV treatment again this morning at the local clinic, three times a week for the next 8 weeks. Hopefully it clears it up again...

Hi. I have used UVB for many years at home, very successfully. I already knew that my psoriasis responded well to sunlight. My wife and I have downsized to a bungalow and I simply have nowhere for my full sized UVB lamp, so I am happy to give to to anybody that would get good use from it. I'm lucky in no longer having significant patches of psoriasis, maybe due to age, and I have a hand held lamp for use when necessary So if you would really benefit from a full sized UVB lamp (6 ft tall, 10 philips UVB tubes) then please let me know. It is about 10 years old so the tubes are somewhat worn, but it is in excellent condition. I'd hate to have to take it to be recycled knowing how much I have appreciated having it. Cost about £1200 new. You will have to collect (in a l fair sized vehicle) in the Bristol area. All the usual warnging about UVB over exposure apply of course. David

Hello all, I've had several sessions of uvb at the hospital over the past few years with fab results. I'm now looking to buy my own home unit as I simply can't get to the hospital 3 times a week for several months at a time. If anyone has a canopy unit that they would like to sell please do let me know, Happy to collect. Thank you.
