I've been using balneum plus baths oil for years, must be over 15 as it's all I really remember using.
anyway recently the GP have stopped prescribing it too me. at first i thought they were not reading my repeat prescriptions correctly as for the last couple of months I was receiving balneum cream instead.
so went in and asked what was going on and they said they've stopped prescribing bath oils and that I could use the cream in the bath.
I'm using other stuff now anyway as I never exclusively used the baths oil.
just really wanted to find out if this is a national thing or just depending on the nhs trust.

I believe the NHS prescription rules changed in October 2017, and some items that can be bought over the counter (i.e. without a prescription) are usually no longer available via prescription. Most, if not all, specialist moisturisers are an example. I use Cetraben, which is similarly priced to others and would cost me around £100 per month at the moment due to the extent of my psoriasis (£11.99 for a 500g bottle, of which I need two each week)... at least until whatever medication I'm given at my hospital appointment at the end of January kicks in. My GP has shown some sympathy and has continued to provide prescriptions for a limited amount of Cetraben to me, with me buying the rest.
