Hiya folks.
I have had psoriasis since I was 7. My mum had rheumatoid arthritis and passed away 4 years ago age just 61.
Myself and my sister were both tested for inflammatory markers etc around 3 years ago and all ok. I had a bug about 3 weeks ago (well what I thought was a bug) Very tired aching joints and just generally feeling unwell. After a week my joints were all sore at different times and my thumb nail skin was coming away from the nail bed and producing fluid.
Went to the doc who has sent me for xray (done on Friday) and blood test (today). I was also given 30mg/500mg co codamol which totally spaced me out and made me feel sick. So going on just paracetamol.
Anyway, i am so sore and stiff all over, I feel very tired too and v low (suffer from bipolar). My eyes are also very dry and blurred vision on waking. I feel like I am about 100 yo.
Anyway, no sure reason for post, just feeling v alone, and also looking for advice on how best to deal with pain..... Happy christmas eve. lol. xxx

I'm newly diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis, so probably not the best person to give advice on pain, as currently working my way through different medications (meloxicam/steroids) neither working!
But I wanted to say I understand it can be lonely dealing with an auto immune disease. I too feel like a very old person and often family/friends think it's just arthritis get on with it!
Not only are you dealing with daily pain but likely a big change in lifestyle too. Personally, I was planning trip to NZ, joined the gym to get fit and going for promotion but now I don't even know if I'll ever work again!
Although I'm now making a habit of every day through the blurry vision, extreme pain, brain fog and immobility, telling myself it won't be like this forever. I have to stay hopeful and you should too.
Focus your energy on what you can do to help yourself. Research your condition, get informed, exercise for endorphins, read inspiring stories, be compassionate to yourself, respect your body and stay connected with like minded people who understand, like on this forum.
Stay hopeful and wishing you a happy Christmas. X

Thank you so much for your reply. I have been looking in to it but my husband says to wait till I have a diagnosis before researching it all. As I said my mum had early onset RA and I do worry for the effect this will have.
I have just stopped weekend smoking and cut back on drinking just for general health so that should help.
Starting clean eating after Xmas day. And was supposed to start a boot camp on the 6th but can barely move at moment x
Wishing you a lovely Xmas time xx

Hi all
I’ve had ps for abt 5 yrs, and as soon as run down always got a swollen throat. I’ve also had cold sores since about age 14,(didn’t realise till recently highly likely to have this if have ps. ) I have hrrendous cold sores now with flu symptoms, and on strong daily dose of Aciclovir, but only take paracetamol for aches n pains, too scared to go on meds for ps,
I’ve just had a weeks hol abroad and had 5 days of it in bed Ill! Still not confirmed if I have PA, as evidence was an initial finger swollen for abt 6months, but do have osteo-arthritis confirmed.
All of that said, I’m a lot better than many I read of here. I can only say that, when I do have an episode like last week, it takes me to very low place, so I really empathise with those much worse than me.
I’m still working (I’m a Counsellor), and able
