Hi all,
Hope the recent sun is helping all of your P’s Improve!
Quick P update, I had a telephone consultation with a doctor yesterday, basically saying the initial treatments haven’t done anything and If he could recommend anything stronger and also wanted his advice on the UVB treatments. He prescribed me with Dovobet which has the exact same ingredients as my previous creams but in a stronger dose, collected today so I’ll see how things go, also collecting another treatment tomorrow so hopefully this helps.
He did say that if this doesn’t work then I’ll be referred to a specialist And we can look at uvb treatment, trialling a lamp etc so I’ll see how the Dovobet and whatever this other concoction goes and take it from there. Also going to try and get more sun on my skin!
My main question was how do you stop the treatments, specifically creams, gels, ointments etc from rubbing off, either on clothes or bedsheets? I have a lot of P spots on my back and as soon as I put the cream on and lie on my back I feel it’s just going to rub off and not actually do anything, and vice versa for the spots on my front, sides of scalp etc so any advice for that will be welcome!
Thanks in advance, hope everyone’s staying safe and your P flareups are being kept at bay!

I have never really found anything that stops ointments and creams rubbing off. I wish there had been something back in the 80s when I used dithranol, this would stain anything purple it came into contact with. Thankfully that is a thing of the past.
Dovobet should be used sparingly if possible, I suppose that will depend how widespread your P is.
A referral to a specialist may be a good Idea once the lock down is over. If they consider your P bad enough and you have tried different creams and ointments, they may recommend UVB or even oral tablet medication.
Do you moisturise daily?
Good luck with dovobet.
I always apply my Dovobet at least 1 hour before going to bed. Rub it in as well as you can, and then give it time to penetrate. Try to do the same before getting dressed in the morning.
I live alone so it was difficult to treat my back
When I first came down with psoriasis in 1980, the main treatment I used was a dark brown coal-tar treatment, like lard. I did the same thing back then and my sheets and clothes did not get stained.

Thanks for the advice! I’ll just have to apply it earlier and hope for the best!
I will see how I get on with the Dovobet for 2-4 weeks and revisit the doctor for an update, I do moisturise daily, sometimes twice a day after a shower.
I am considering buying a uvb lamp anyway, just to try a multi pronged attack on the P!
