Hi all I’m new here. Was initially diagnosed with PSA back in 2008 after having Psoriasis all my life. PSA wise I have been lucky as it hasn’t massively effected me (I was discharged by the Rheumatologist about a year after diagnosis.)
In 2014 I thought I’d injured myself on my bike as I cycle a fair bit, which resulted in my knee swelling and lack of full range of movement and pain. Thinking on this was a PSA flare up rather than an injury, this eventually went after a month or so, I have at the beginning of January started again with the same symptoms I had in 2014 (Knee swollen, lack of movement, pain worsening in cold and also psoriasis on my arm (although only slight). Just wondered if anyone had any tips or tricks to make the flare go away? I’m usually quite active, Football, cycling etc but this has stopped my in my tracks. Any help or advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks

NSAIDs - you probably need to try and see your GP.

I’ve had psoriasis since I was.11 (I’m now 43) and although my skin condition has become increasingly worse, I’d never heard of psoriatic arthritis until my younger sister was diagnosed with it in her hips and lower back (Im the oldest of 4 and all of my sisters have been diagnosed with psoriasis over the last 20 years in addition to numerous autoimmune conditions which confirms to me that it is 1. genetic and 2. also linked to other conditions). I experienced similar symptoms in my wrist in 2019 (swollen joints, redness, burning and what felt like bruising up my arm) and was eventually diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis. Like you I was fortunate that I didn’t experience any further symptoms and was discharged shortly after. However, if your symptoms have returned elsewhere (which we know that eventually they usually will) then make sure you get referred back to your rheumatologist - you should still be registered and as you were originally diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis it should be monitored annually. They should be able to confirm next steps for you
