Does nail psoriasis always mean arthritis?

I have noticed this in my fingernails. No other symptoms yet. Just wondered what people’s experiences are. Will it develop in to arthritis pretty soon?

In my experience not at first, but when i got older it did, when i first saw a specialist about joint pain thay checked my nails and medical records ect,and did blood tests xrays m.r.i. but nothing showed up until my shoulders kept locking up,more medical investigations ltr, injections in shoulders ect 40yrs passed in pain in joints hands feet back ect, given strong pain killers and nothing else, until i saw another specialist who knew straight away what it was, a bit to late for me now but its a hard disease condition to spot, 2023 now and there are not enought specialists docs who know what to look out for and mis diagnose it,finger nails pitted or holes in are a marker for further problems ltr on in life has i found out too late, keep a eye on it and have regular checks if you can !

Hi - I'm 78 so think I can count as 'older'! My nails have always had a huge problem - as well as my skin - I have been extremely fortunate not to have arthritis and I sympathise with those who have.- so I don't think it is a given, but as Billy says - be aware.
