Keto

Hi! I personally know of someone whose severe Psoriasis went away from eating a Keto diet and another person I know had theirs cleared on Carnivore diet. Has anyone else had the same experience? And if so, how long before you'd expect to see if it's working? I don't know how long to stick to Keto before changing course. It seems to go against so much that I've read about healing through diet...on Keto, I have dairy, nightshades, red meat. But I've previously cut those out before along with gluten, alcohol and sugar (which is the same on Keto) and no difference after I eliminated those foods for over 6 months.

I read a paper in a medical journal (https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC8016365/) that while i didn't fully understand the science, it seemed that keto might be worth a try. My psoriasis worsened after covid vax and I developed arthritis in knees, feet and hands. I started to follow a low carb diet at end of October and in 6 weeks pain in joints has gone. My nails, which were also deformed on feet are now back to normal. I still have both guttate and plaque skin going on, but I feel a hell of a lot better. I intend to follow low carb for at least a year to make sure it's not seasonal (I'm in australia so pain reduction has coincided with warmer weather.) I've also lost 6 kilos! I say, what have you got to lose... except pain. It doesn't seem to have to be full on keto, just reduce those carbs to under 20-30g per day. I've found the only thing i really miss is pulses and legumes and they can be reintroduced further down the track in moderation. There's a couple of really good cookbooks out there that cut through all the American Diet replacement. Happy to recommend if you're interested.

Today I am at the 1 and half month mark of starting Carnivore. Pretty strict carnivore but not quite lion's diet. I do still have dairy and I eat eggs and bacon every morning. Since I started carnivore I have: Went from 216lbs to 195 as of today Wake up so much easier In the morning. Feet and finger nails cleared up although I can almost see the war going on in my fingernails(the pitting acts like it wants to come back but then it never develops.) My energy levels are amazing. I have had psoriasis since 18 yrs old. I'm 36 now. Psoriasis on my scalp, behind ears, on torso, elbows, shoulders, and knee. I fully understand that this many years of psoriasis will not go away in 1 month. Im very head strong and will see this through to the end. I did pagano diet 10 years ago, lost an incredible amount of weight and got rid of psoriasis. I relapsed into bad food and completely rebounded with obesity again after pagano diet and wound up with psoriasis again. This time on carnivore, I'm really paying attention and I will make this a lifestyle long term. I never want to go to mcdonalds again( I do eat wendys, Freddie's, and other fast food Burger patties and cheese only even though the cheese is trash) No fruits, nuts, berries, or anything. Only animal based items like true carnivore says. Saying all that: i do get frustrated from time to time on how slow I'm healing. The psoriasis on my throat has been the first noticeable change outside of the pitting nails. But I do realize that this will take some months. Good thing is, i started this diet during winter and plan on being able to take my shirt off at the beach this summer :) I will get some sun this spring as well. I haven't opened up about this much online, but I thought its time to spill my experience in hopes it helps someone else. final note......all those doctors medications that they want to prescribe, im not a fan of it, never tried it, never will. The shots, pills or anything. Im all natural. If I can beat psoriasis once the natural way, then I can do it again. Psoriasis is truly a result of eating trash. It's in our gut. Fix your gut, save your skin.
