Hi all
Been reading the forum for a few years but now I guess Is the time to share my experience to hopefully get the clearance I’m trying to achieve.
I’m 37 and had Psoriasis since I was around 13 ( started on scalp and groin area) I didn’t actually go to the doctor until I was 18 Ish as I was too embarrassed. Fast forward I’ve had steroids to keep it under control. I have cleared 3 times . 2 times by diet and once with PUVA
The times by diet were very restrictive- it was basically apples and 9bars ( not sure if anyone remembers them!) as soon as I cleared I ate what I wanted and it came back.
Fast forward to now and i have given up steroids , I had a uvb home unit which I stopped in December. I was never fully clear on either of them , probably did more harm than good .. but enough for me to hide this condition. But now I’m in full flare mode again
I have been trying the restrictive diet again but something is no longer working. I’m not even hungry anymore due to only eating small amounts.
So tomorrow I am embarking on a water fast , firstly for 3 days and then see how I progress to 7 . I hope this Will reset me and I will clear . Who knows , but I have to try. I have been preparing for this for a few days , just having one meal a day and feel ready mentally .
I’ll up date my progress as I go along. Fully aware some people psoriasis isn’t due to food but I know mine is so I feel I have to do as much as I can.

CB - oh bless you, I soo get your thought processes & wish you all the best!!! However, can I throw a spanner in the works and help possibly shed some light for you?! By sharing your experience, it's all painting a picture without you realising it!! As apples contain ellagic acid, and ellagic acid promotes Akkermansia in our gut. Psoriasis sufferers have very low levels of Akkermansia. I would soo love it if you have a read of my post under talk about treatments and probiotics are helping my psoriasis - please focus on the ellagic acid and Akkermansia commentary - I would so love to know what you think based on your findings!!! Sorry - yes I am probably crazy too!! best wishes

Plus CB I'm in my 50s and have never heard of 9bars? where in the world are you? Just curious to know what they are & if they contain ellagic acid.....👋

I’m in the UK , there were popular around 2005 times Ish
Full of sunflower, pumpkin, sesame, and hemp topped with carrob. Much like a protein bar but dairy/gluten free. Definitely helped with just eating apples for 2 weeks

Hi CB - oh wow, me too, never heard of them, but I'm currently gluten free and lacto free. Hey I can't wait based on your dietary findings to date see what you think of this all being down to ellagic acid as per my post! I won't lie, I'm very concerned about how little you are eating & what you have planned for tomorrow. I hope my findings in my post convince you that a new course of action has come to light! As honestly, if you'd never posted this, I would never have known to be able to comment, it's like fate, we're all here to support each other!

Oh for sure I appreciate the concern but I have been dipping in and out of this for years and I know when to quit and when to try.
I’m actually put on a few pounds over Xmas so a few coming off wouldn’t be a bad thing :)

Psoriasis history has seemed to always be tied into leaky gut and a lot of folks recommend more Mediterranean style eating, lots of fish. And yes let us know how the water fasting goes.

I think leaky gut is definitely the case!
So it’s coming to the end of day 3 and I have only had water.
It’s been ok . Hunger comes and goes. But I’m not sure if to carry on for another few days or not. I think it’s not as red as it has been but that could be just be trying to find any colour difference.
Will see how I feel tomorrow
