Has anyone got any experience using smile & joys Chinese cream there seems to be a lot of positivity around the cream on social media but I’m sure someone has said it has steroids in it but it advertises as herbal.

Many chinese ointmentds are advertised as 100% herbal but lab analysis shows them to have sterods, and in some cases the levels were higher than allowed in the UK. The Psoriasis Association ised to cover some brands that had been tested, but I cannot finf that now. I wouold suggesty that you ask them via their "get in touch" contact details at the bottom of this page (You might have to wait until Monday)

I have read many positive stories on Instagram about this ointment. Has anybody tried it? It is quite expensive for one tube so I don;t want to waste my money if it is now good. Thank you.

Janet, I used this ointment off and on the past few years. Recently, when stopping it, after psoriais/eczema cleared up, I got a different looking rash within days. This has happened the last two times I stopped applying the cream. I am now very skeptical. I see my dermatologist in a couple weeks. I am hoping she can tell me if it is TSW, or another type of dermatitis. I haven't used any other prescriptions or herbal treatments besides the Smiles and Joys the past few years. So, if I have TSW, it is from the Smiles and Joy cream.

Any update Stan? Has your dermatologist confirmed anything? I'd really appreciate if you could let me know!

My dermatologist neither could confirm or deny I have TSW. We agreed to taper off in case the Smiles and Joys cream has steroids in it. I was given a Rx for hydrocortisone 2.5% for tapering. However, after one dose, I decided to totally cease any steroids cream, including the Smiles and Joys. I started working with a Traditional Chinese Medicine Dermatologist and she said the Smiles and Joys looks to be one of the Chinese herbal creams that does have steroids. Again, I have no means of confirming it does have steroids. I'm just taking an educated guess that it does. The TCM dermatologist has me on herbal medicine and I am doing better. My case would be considered very mild, if it is TSW, compared to the worst cases I've seen. If you want to stay clear of any kind of steroids, I recommend staying away from Smiles and Joys, just in case. I have been in contact with Smiles and Joys via email, and they have not provided the appropriate documentation saying their cream is steroid free. They just point me to their website with ingredients listed, and a video supposedly done by Dr. Berg testing their cream for steroids. The problem with the video is, Dr. Berg never says the name of the cream and only tested for five steroids. The picture of the cream in the video could have easily been inserted by Smiles and Joys. I hope this helps.
