Advice on treating scalp psoriasis

My daughter (25 years) has psoriasis around hair line and behind ears . May I ask which treatments and shampoos do you feel have helped you? We are waiting for a dermatology appointment but waiting list is so long so if there is anything which you think may help meanwhile or any advice you could offer it would be appreciated. Thank you so much Julie

I would suggest to try Polytar shampoo. It is available over the counter. Coal-tar based preparations are quite effective for many people (including me over many years). Unfortunately with psoriasis there are no guarantees that what works for 1 person will work just as well for another, or conversely no gurantee something that does not work for one will also not work for another. Capasal shampoo is another one to try. There was a good product, Alphosyl shampoo but it seems to have been discontinued.

Thank you. I have ordered the Polytar. We will try that first. You are right that Alposyl has been discontinued by the manufacturer. Do you have any advice about frequency of washing? It has been suggested that she massages generous amounts of coconut oil into her scalp and leave in over night. Have you any thoughts on this? Julie
