New to Psoriasis

I found a reddish mark on my face in October 24 and then more appeared on my chest. At almost 78 I had assumed that my time with spots/rashes had been left in my childhood. I went to see GP and he took some pictures and prescribed Eumovate Cream, the following day after showing the pictures to another GP he prescribed me Enstilar Foam saying that would be more effective. I no longer have P on my face, but it is still coming up almost daily on the rest of my body. ( Chest, back, finger nail beds and both big toes) So it looks like I have full blown Psoriasis. My GP referred me to the local hospital Dermatology Dept., but I cannot get an appointment to see them until July 2025. Not knowing anyone else with P makes it difficult to say if the almost daily plaques will slow down or how long a "flare up" lasts. Will it eventually give me a rest or does it keep on forever? It itches like mad and is often painful. Is there a good Antihistamine out there that anyone can recommend as the itching is driving me mad? Thanks for reading this.

Hi Malcolm, I got psoriasis about 3 years ago after having the covid vaccine I am 74, I paid privately to see a dermatologist as it was so bad I couldn't wait for nhs appointment. They did a biopsy and confirmed psoriasis. I had phototherapy shortly after and it went away for about 9 months. It came back again and I had to wait about 8 weeks for more phototherapy, in the mean time I had Enstilar foam which did help. About 6 months after that I got it on my feet and hands which was so painful, like trying to walk on broken glass. I lost all my toenails as well. I then had phototherapy for my feet and hands and since then I get some itchy patches but have kept it at bay and am now waiting for phototherapy appointment at the moment, I hope this has explained a bit about this dreadful skin disorder. Thanks Pippin, Not heard of phototherapy. In my initial message I forgot to say that I have P on my ears, both sides, and even when I remove the worst of it, it seems to come back the following day. Looks like I have had two thick ears!
