St Johns Derm Academy Event - Videos Now Available!
On Tuesday 30th July, we had the pleasure of attending the St Johns DermAcademy - Skin Health: Celebrating New Advances' patient and public information evening. The event, which hopes to the be the first of many, was held in-person at the Science Gallery on Guy’s Hospital campus.
Before the evening kicked off, members of the public popped over to our stand to have a chat and discuss queries related to their psoriasis.
We were able to provide general guidance and signpost them to our information packs for more specific advice. It was interesting to hear about people’s lived experience of psoriasis and distinct ways in which they manage the condition. We also had the chance to connect with other patient support groups and meet the wider skin health community.
The evening included informative talks on latest updates from leading researchers in skin health, which we thoroughly enjoyed listening to. A variety of skin conditions were covered, including presentations on melanoma, eczema and rare inherited diseases.
Dr Satveer Mahil provided an overview and latest insights on mySkin findings on psoriasis and explained how to get involved in the project.
An innovative talk on the mind-skin connection emphasised how important managing all aspects of health and wellbeing is when managing a chronic condition. All the talks were extremely engaging and attending the evening allowed us to gain a wider understanding of other conditions which affect the skin and their management.
