Chloe's Story
Chloe faced a long waiting time before having her psoriasis diagnosis confirmed. Now, six months on, she's seen a huge improvement.
Hi my name is Chloe. I'm 26 years old at the start of 2023 I noticed that the inside of my ears were bright red and peeling. I didn't think much of it until I started to get small flakey bumps on my scalp, so I went to see the GP who said it looked like scalp psoriasis and prescribed me topical steroids.
The steroids didn't really do much and when I stopped using them, it would flare up even worse. At this point it had spread to my back, legs and underarms, so I went back to my GP who referred me to the dermatologist department at the hospital.
I had to wait for over a year to be seen during that time I got a massive infection on my legs due to scratching the psoriasis and I ended up in A&E and had to take 2 different types of antibiotics. Also at this point, I was 80% covered in psoriasis. I'd never felt this low in my whole life. I was in constant pain and discomfort and barely left the house.
When my dermatologists appointment came around I was properly diagnosed with inverse, plaque psoriasis and scalp psoriasis and given methotrexate to start ASAP which has been life changing for me. After a month or so of taking methotrexate my psoriasis started to disappear. It's been 6 months since I started my medication and I'm happy to say I'm 99% clear. There is hope.
