Maddi's Story

Maddi's psoriasis began to flare after going through a stressful period in her life but she believes that learning to love her skin and manage her stress has helped improve it over time.

My story started when I was 17 after losing my Dad to his battle with cancer...

Small patches on my elbows and legs.

I was misdiagnosed for many years until I went into hospital with quinsy and my skin took a turn for the worse. I was 19 when I finally diagnosed with guttate psoriasis. Small patches grew into bigger patch’s, until eventually covering 90% of my legs. After multiple appointments with the dermatologist using very steroid or cream and even trying light therapy, I was hopeless. Until, I started to focus on loving myself, accepting that this is who I was now. The comments no longer fazed me and I didn’t hide my skin… And then it was gone!

I’m still unsure what healed my skin. But what am sure on is that stress can be very damaging to the mind and body. You have to remember you are never alone. Surround yourself with the people who love you.

I still have my flare ups to this day. This story isn’t over yet but there is a light at the end of the tunnel!
